As the offseason aproaches, Cuonzo Martin has been mentioned for other jobs, such as the vacancies at Missouri and NC State and the potential vacancy in Illinois. He moved quickly to comment on those rumors immediately Here’s what he had to say in the coaches teleconference.
"I don't think there's a response, My job, I work for Cal. That's what it means for me. I didn't have a response last year, when things were taking place. My job is to do my job, and I work for Cal, and that is the most important thing for me. Anything other than that, I don't consume myself with it."
Martin’s quick and decisive statement provides a stark contrast to Sonny Dykes’s radio silence on coaching rumors. Dykes was reportedly fired by Cal in part due to his non-committal attitude to Cal, and two consecutive offseasons of being circulated with other FBS coaching vacancies.
