Another day, another coaching job that Cuonzo Martin is being put in the running for. This time it’s an ACC program that’s get in on the action.

With North Carolina State firing coach Mark Gottfried, the Wolfpack are in the market for a new head coach. Martin appears to be in the running here. There isn’t really any previous connection between Martin and the Wolfpack.
This is one of several likely or actual coaching vacancies that Martin has been linked to according to multiple reports. Missouri has reportedly made Martin one of their top targets, and there have been reports that Illinois will go after him as well this spring.
Martin is currently under contract with Cal through the 2020-21 season, and is expected to earn around $1.84 million a year. I’d be surprised to see another college basketball program providing that much higher of a contract raise that would offset the amount of money Martin would have to pay back if he were to leave Cal.
For now, I’d treat these rumors as rumors only. There’s only some smoke here.
