Tim O’Toole reportedly staying a Cal assistant; Tracy Webster likely will not return

Two more assistants to hire.

We have two updates on the California Golden Bears assistant coaching front.

Cal had three assistant coaches on staff. As we know, Wyking Jones was promoted to the head coaching job. That leaves Timmy O’Toole and Tracy Webster.

O’Toole was rumored to be headed off to Washington to join new head coach Mike Hopkins, but Jones’s hire appears to have brought him back into the fold. The latest report indicates he will return to Cal.

As for Webster, it’s unlikely he will return to Cal. Webster coached with Cuonzo Martin at Cal, and coached with Cuonzo Martin at Tennessee, and could potentially join up with Martin in Missouri. CalBears.com no longer lists him as an assistant coach on the staff. O’Toole is still listed as a Cal assistant.

So the Bears will likely have to make two assistant hires in the future. Cal fans, what are your thoughts on who the Bears should hire next?
