An add to our stable of QB’s?

Looks like the new staff is looking outside the regular recruiting track for some QB depth. Cal had former South Carolina QB Brandon McIlwain on an official visit this past week. Brandon McIlwain was regarded as a top 15 QB in the 2016 class. Standing at 6’1” and 204 lbs, he was rated as a 4-star Dual-Threat QB, and recruited by the likes of Wisconsin, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida, Clemson, Auburn and also Cal.

The visit was first reported by Ryan Gorcey, seen below.

247 reported the following about McIlwain and his decision:

Seeing that the Bears have a baseball program as well, as long as the coaching staff is alright with Brandon playing 2 sports, he seems to be seriously taking a look at moving out to the west coast. Another added facet to this visit is from 247 sports as well.

Interesting little tidbit.

McIlwain is also to reported to be looking at Arizona, Baylor, and Virginia.

Take a look at McIlwain’s highlights at the SCAR spring game below.
