Well that didn’t take long. Jeff Goodman of ESPN reports that California Golden Bears basketball coach Cuonzo Martin has been offered the head coaching job by the Missouri Tigers. Martin is reportedly thinking about what decision he should make. We can expect something sooner rather than later.
Martin has been mentioned for several jobs this offseason, including NC State and Illinois. Missouri made it public they were interested in Martin though, and they have zoned in on making Martin their next coach. Martin did address those rumors in the past week, saying he was the coach at Cal.
If Martin were to leave for Missouri, he would owe Cal at least $1.1 million. This is from his previous contract though; I believe that number will move up a few notches under the contract extension he recently signed, although I don’t have those exact figures at this time.
Cal fans, your thoughts?
UPDATE: The rumored number is currently $3.5 million a year, five years guaranteed. Wow.

UPDATE: A source close to California Golden Blogs confirms that Martin is likely to accept the Missouri coaching vacancy. Cal will probably be jumpstarting its second major coaching search of 2017 in the near future.
