The California Golden Bears men’s team will play their final basketball games of 2017 on two courts: Haas Pavillion in Berkeley, and (if they get there) Madison Square Garden in New York City. Cal is a one seed in the NIT, and they will have three games to try and advance to the NIT semifinals in the Garden.
Cal is among four NIT teams with a number one seed, including Syracuse, Iowa and Illinois State.
Here’s a look at Cal’s path to the NIT tournament final.
- Cal will start out in Berkeley against Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday night at 8:15 p.m. Pacific on ESPN2. You might remember Cal losing to Cal State Bakersfield in Cuonzo Martin’s first season.
- Cal will face the winner of Colorado State-Charleston if they won their first round matchup.
- Cal will then have to face one of Houston, BYU, UT-Arlington, or Akron to get to Madison Square Garden.
