Welp.
In a reminder that momentum in sports isn’t a thing, Cal followed up a critical home sweep of UCLA and USC with a thoroughly demoralizing home loss to Utah. We were hoping Cal would enter today’s game at 6-7 in conference with a chance to get to .500 and place Cal clearly in NCAA tournament discussion.
Instead the Bears are 5-8 with the toughest 4 game stretch of the season starting next week. This is the last game of the regular season in which Cal will be favored. They already beat Colorado in Boulder (sadly, Cal’s 2nd best win in the Pac-12), so you would expect another win in Berkeley . . . but we’ll see how the team comes out after a really humbling set back on Friday.
