The commits just keep rolling in on National Signing Day for the Bears. After Cal lost a few secondary prospects prior to signing day, the Bears have another defensive back commit. Meet Branden Smith!

Smith is considered a three-star prospect by Scout and is ranked as the 17th best cornerback in the West (72nd overall). Smith also held offers from BYU, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington State, and a few Mountain West programs.
Take a look at the tape and see what Smith is capable of.
Although we mentioned Smith was a wide receiver in our original post (as 247Sports has him listed), Cal was recruiting him at the much more dire position of cornerback. Smith would be Cal’s second cornerback of this class—athlete Elijah Hicks is expected to start off competing for playing time at corner. Daniel Scott is another Cal secondary recruit who is expected to play safety.
Welcome to Cal Branden! Go Bears!
