If you recognize the last name, it is because his nephew (yes, his nephew) is currently a Cal football player by the name of Jaylinn Hawkins. Jeremiah holds offers from Nebraska, Rutgers, ASU, Boise, Colorado, Oregon State, Utah, Washington, Washington State and more. 247Composite ranks him as the 51st best athlete and the 73rd best California prospect.
Take a look at the highlights of Hawkins.
He is most likely to be a wide receiver at the next level, as his smaller frame would make him fit in the best at that position. He is very similar to Melquise Stovall, though not as highly recruited, in the sense that he is a smaller athlete who is speedy and shifty. He could become quite a nifty slot receiver.
With the boatloads of receiving talent on the roster, wide receiver wasn’t a big issue for this class, especially with the likely impending switch away from the Air Raid to a shotgun/spread offense.
Nonetheless, it can never hurt to stock up on good athletes, and Hawkins is just that.
