Cal Football Recruiting, Friday Night Lights: Shrout throws two touchdown passes

The regular season is winding down — and already has for some — so which future Bears are handling the pressure?

NCAA Football: Oregon State at California Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Nikko Remigio: WR, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)

Mater Dei completed an undefeated regular season by stomping Servite, one of their biggest rivals, 51-7. It doesn’t look like Remigio played though, as he doesn’t show up in the box score. I searched news articles and Twitter to see if he’s injured, but couldn’t find anything.

JT Shrout: QB, Hart (Newhall, CA)

Shrout and the Hart Indians beat Saugus 22-14 to finish their regular season with a 7-3 record. Shrout completed 17 of 30 passes for 241 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Hart takes on Sierra Canyon in the first round of the playoffs.

Will Craig (OL) and Evan Tattersall (LB/RB): Granite Bay (Granite Bay, CA)

Granite Bay beat Rocklin 27-14 to finish their regular season at 8-2. Tattersall rushed 10 times for 64 yards and one touchdown, while catching one pass for seven yards. Tattersall also registered four tackles, two for a loss, and one sack. His highlight is below, followed by Craig’s.

Chigozie Anusiem: CB, Sonora (La Habra, CA)

Anusiem and Sonora beat Troy 21-14 to finish their regular season at 6-4. They will face Saugus in the first round of the playoffs.

McCallan Castles: TE, South Tahoe (South Lake Tahoe, CA)

Castles and South Tahoe’s season came to an end at the hands of the team that handed them a loss in the regular season finale as well. Truckee took down South Tahoe in another tightly contested 35-28 matchup. Castles caught one pass for a 77 yard touchdown and blocked a kick.

Nick Alftin: DE, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA)

Alftin and Archbishop Mitty were unable to stop their losing streak as they slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat by way of a 31-28 scoreline against Valley Christian. Alftin sacks the quarterback in the highlight video below.

Atonio Mafi: G/DT, Junipero Serra (San Mateo, CA)

Serra dominated St. Ignatius to improve to 7-2 this season. It looks like Mafi only played offensive line in this matchup, and based on the highlight video he was the international house of pancakes throughout the contest. He dominated the line of scrimmage, as per usual.

Miles Owens: OL, Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, CA)

Owens and the Dragons ended their regular season 8-2 after a 39-12 blowout victory against San Leandro. The Dragons take on Terra Linda in the playoffs.

Brandon Mello: OL, Clayton Valley Charter (Concord, CA)

The Ugly Eagles demolished Campolindo 54-21 to finish the regular season with an 8-2 record. Next up they will take on De La Salle in a playoff game.

JH Tevis: DE, Menlo (Atherton, CA)

Tevis and his Menlo squad suffered a gut-wrenching 25-24 loss to rival squad Sacred Heart Prep, which drops them to 6-3 this season. Tevis recorded five tackles and two quarterback pressures.

Jasper Friis: OL, Aquinas (San Bernardino, CA)

Aquinas handed out another beatdown this past week. They improved to 10-0 this season after obliterating Ontario Christian 52-0.

Matthew Cindric: DL, Skyline (Sammamish, WA)

Cindric and Skyline eviscerated Enumclaw 42-7 to finish the regular season 7-3. They will see a familiar foe in the first round of the playoffs when they take on Bothell in a rematch of a game they lost 34-27 earlier this season.

Slater Zellers: OL/LS, Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ)

Notre Dame beat Desert Edge 49-7 in their first playoff game to improve to 11-0 this season. Next up they will take on Queen Creek.
