Matthew Cindric: DL, Skyline (Sammamish, WA)
Cindric and Skyline squeaked past Bothell 31-28 in a first round playoff game. Cindric recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown towards the end of the first half. Here’s what his coach had to say about him via The Seattle Times:
“We have a fantastic team, but (Cindric) is our leader, and he’s our team,” Skyline coach Mat Taylor said. “We’ve had games where he was injured twice and our team was looking around, and he’s so important to us. To have that touchdown (at the end of the first half), it was unbelievable.
“That was the whole game right there. That was amazing.”
Slater Zellers: OL/LS, Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ)
It’s been almost two months since Notre Dame Prep was in a close contest, but the unfamiliarity couldn’t keep Zellers and his teammates from navigating the uncharted waters and steering the ship into the next round of the playoffs. They managed to escape a second round playoff meeting against Queen Creek with a 34-31 overtime victory. They’ll take on Cienega in the third round.
