My failure to put together Friday Night Lights last week means we have an extra week of stats to dive in to for each player, so let’s get right to it.
Nikko Remigio: WR, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
In their closest game to date this season, Mater Dei still emerged victorious 31-21 against St. John Bosco. Remigio caught just three passes for 12 yards.
In their most recent game, Mater Dei returned to annihilating the competition with a 45-3 victory against JSerra Catholic to improve to 8-0 with just two regular season games remaining. Remigio caught three passes for 80 yards in this contest.
JT Shrout: QB, Hart (Newhall, CA)
Hart needed to rebound after taking a crushing loss against Valencia 42-14, and they did just that notching victories against Canyon (35-18) and West Ranch (35-6) to improve to 5-3 this season. Shrout completed 22 of 39 passes for 279 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions against Canyon.
His stats were a little better against West Ranch, but the interception rate shows no signs of slowing down as Shrout completed 25 of 41 passes for 324 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Will Craig (OL) and Evan Tattersall (LB/RB): Granite Bay (Granite Bay, CA)
Granite Bay lost 14-7 in overtime to Oak Ridge, which was their second consecutive loss on the season after starting with five straight victories. Tattersall rushed nine times for 40 yards while catching one pass for four yards. Craig managed to record three tackles and one sack. Craig’s highlight video is below.
Granite Bay rebounded with a 23-0 win against Nevada Union to improve to 6-2 this season. Tattersall rushed seven times for 32 yards and one touchdown. Both Craig and Tattersall recorded six tackles each, while Craig also recorded three tackles for a loss. Craig’s highlight is followed by Tattersall’s.
Chigozie Anusiem: CB, Sonora (La Habra, CA)
Following a blowout loss to Fullerton, Sonora responded with a 17-10 win against Buena Park, during which Anusiem recorded an interception. They did not carry the momentum with them to the next game, though, as they lost 40-0 against La Habra to fall to 5-3 this season.
McCallan Castles: TE, South Tahoe (South Lake Tahoe, CA)
South Tahoe is back on track after grabbing two more victories to improve their record to 5-3 on the strength of a four-game winning-streak. First, they destroyed 56-13 with Castles catching four passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Next, they defeated Elko 26-13 with Castles recording four catches for 67 yards and one touchdown.
Omari Harris: RB/LB, Antioch (Antioch, CA)
Just one game to catch up on with Antioch, but it did not go according to plan. They lost 23-6 to Liberty with Harris rushing three times for 12 yards. He blows up a Liberty running back behind the line of scrimmage in the highlight video below.
Nick Alftin: DE, Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, CA)
Remember how I said Archbishop Mitty dropped to 4-2 after Serra destroyed them 64-21? Well, their season opening loss against Sacramento has since become a win by forfeit, which improves them to 5-1. That was before they suffered yet another heavy defeat, this time at the hands of Saint Francis, which drops their record to 5-2. Alftin recorded six tackles and one tackle for a loss.
Atonio Mafi: G/DT, Junipero Serra (San Mateo, CA)
Serra dished out another beating by way of a 51-21 scoreline against Sacred Heart Prep to improve to 5-2 after winning their fourth consecutive game. Mafi, once again, was a force at the line of scrimmage.
Miles Owens: OL, Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland, CA)
Just one game for Bishop O’Dowd over the last two weeks and it was another great result for the Dragons. This time they thumped Tennyson 65-0 for their second consecutive blowout (and shutout) victory. The Dragons are 5-2 this season.
Brandon Mello: OL, Clayton Valley Charter (Concord, CA)
The Ugly Eagles have now won six consecutive games after beating Stellar Prep 40-0 and Acalanes 35-21. Their record is 6-2 this season.
JH Tevis: DE, Menlo (Atherton, CA)
Tevis and Menlo improved to 7-3 this season with a 51-6 win against Woodside. Tevis recorded six tackles, five tackles for a loss, and four sacks. Tevis has been mighty impressive this season as he has proven to be a wrecking ball to opposition offenses.
Jasper Friis: OL, Aquinas (San Bernardino, CA)
Aquinas continues to steamroll the competition as they are now 8-0 this season after defeating Linfield Christian 63-7 and Arrowhead Christian 63-0. They’ve outscored their opponents 414-77 this season.
Matthew Cindric: DL, Skyline (Sammamish, WA)
Skyline split their last two games by beating Puyallup 45-21 before losing 38-20 to Woodinville. Against Puyallup, Cindric recorded four tackles, one tackle for a loss, and one sack, while he managed eight tackles against Woodinville.
Slater Zellers: OL/LS, Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, AZ)
Notre Dame Prep improved to 9-0 after defeating North Canyon 37-14 and Arcadia 61-0.
