It went south fairly quickly for the Bears. Actually, lets rewind. The Bears were only down 10 with about 7 minutes to play in the half, but then Thomas Welsh & TJ Leaf realized they could dominate the game. From then it was all down hill. Cal shot 30% (9-30) from the field as a team and could not buy a bucket. Ivan Rabb only made 1 shot of 3 attempts and that was a wing 3. Jabari Bird continued his horrible 1st Half shooting woes going 1-5 from the field. Charlie Moore also continued his shooting struggles going 2-7 from the field. Turnovers continued to be an issue as Cal gave up 8 TOs to UCLA’s 3.
Cal kept the difference around the 20 point mark until there was under 10 minutes left in the game. Cal started amounting a serious run led by Don Coleman. Cal was only down 8 with 1:23 left to play. Cal could not complete the comeback, but the team showed grit and fight without Jabari Bird who fouled out early. Cal also might have found its spark plug off the bench in Don Coleman who exploded for 15 points on 7-10 shooting. Ivan Rabb also had his first 20 rebound game tonight and ended with 17 points on 5-12 shooting, going 6-9 from the line.
