So, that wasn’t fun. The Bears were blown away in Seattle by an onslaught of wide open 3 pointers taken by one of the best shooting teams in Pac-12 history.

Today’s opponent is thankfully not of the same caliber. But the Cougars are certainly dangerous on the right day - just ask UCLA and Oregon.

As is typically the case, June Daugherty plays a deep rotation, with 11 players (when healthy) getting consistent minutes. But: Washington State has dealt with injuries to critical players like Borislava Hristova and Louise Brown, and neither played against Stanfurd on Friday. The Cougars have been blown out in 3 of their last 4 games (plus a 1 point win over Arizona) without two of their best players. Cal needs to do the same, even on the road.

The Sagarin Predictor puts Wazzu as roughly a 1.5 point favorite. But the Sagarin Predictor doesn’t know that Wazzu has serious injury issues while Cal doesn’t. If the Bears come out with solid intensity and focus, they should be mild favorites in this game.

If Cal were to win this game, then they would stand at 4-6 in the conference. They would also be heading back to Berkeley for a 5 game home stand that would represent a chance to save their season. But it would take a win in today’s game to give those home games much value. We’ll see if this team is ready to bounce back from perhaps the roughest disappointment in a season filled with Pac-12 disappointments.
