Cal commit Jeremiah Hawkins enjoys Berkeley visit, courted by Nebraska

The National Signing Day watch continues.

USC v California

Cal lost four commits in the wake of the dismissal of Sonny Dykes and the hiring of Justin Wilcox. And the bleeding might not be done.

Buena Park athlete Jeremiah Hawkins has been heavily courted by Nebraska. He’s received multiple in-home visits. The good news is Hawkins took his visit to Cal this past weekend and liked what he saw. Greg Biggins of Scout has a full interview with Hawkins that you should check out.

Hawkins talked about how he enjoyed his Berkeley visit, getting to experience the city, chat with the academic advisors, and getting to know the coaching staff. It seems like he’s ready to go for the Bears, although he did get in some notes on how the Huskers are in the mix.

Nebraska is still full-pressing on Hawkins, so don’t expect this recruitment to end just yet. Hawkins is thinking of taking one final visit this weekend; Baylor, Ole Miss (Jacob Peeler effect!) and Washington State are all supposed to be visiting with him, so expect one of them to get the trip. I’d expect Nebraska to be the main competition for Hawkins come Signing Day.

Stay tuned.
