Marques Tuiasosopo reportedly hired as Cal’s quarterbacks coach

Wilcox continues to hire West Coasters.

For the first time since 2012, it looks like the California Golden Bears will have a dedicated quarterbacks coach with Bruce Feldman reporting that Wilcox and the Bears have hired Marques Tuiasosopo.

Tuiasosopo was born and raised on the West Coast, even playing a bit as a true freshman backing up Brock Huard. The East Bay won’t be too much of a transition for him as he spent the 2001–2006 and 2008 seasons with the Oakland Raiders

He’s coached at UC Los Angeles (grad assistant and quarterbacks), his alma mater (quarterbacks), and USC (tight ends and associate head coach). In 2016, he worked with Josh Rosen and Mike Fafaul as the Bruins’ quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. While with the Trojans in 2015, Tuiasosopo was instrumental in their top-ranked class (based on Scout’s rankings) and was named Scout’s Pac-12 Recruiter of the Year.

Plus, Tuiasosopo becomes the second assistant coach for our 2017 staff with head coaching experience—he served as interim head coach for a 2013 Fight Hunger Bowl victory after Seven-Win Sark fled that hellhole to go to USC.
