Cal has seen the loss of two commits this weekend. First offensive lineman Casey Roddick reopened his recruitment after it was clear that the old coaching staff was not being retained. Now defensive back Je’Quari Godfrey, as expected, enjoyed his official visit to USC so much he made the flip on the spot to the Trojans earlier this afternoon.

I don’t think Godfrey is likely to return to the fold even with a new coaching staff in place. This is likely a permanent flip.
Good news for Cal is the Bears got a special surprise earlier this week in the early enrollment of Scout300 DB Elijah Hicks, who was a Notre Dame flip, so that does ease the loss of Godfrey. Also, Cal has several commitments in this class who could be possible defensive backs, including Michael Onyemaobi, Jordan Genmark-Heath, Jeremiah Hawkins, and Tyriq Hardimon.
Cal is down to 13 commits in the 2017 recruiting cycle. I imagine Justin Wilcox wants to get his coaching staff in place this week so he can get on the road and make a strong final close on this class.
