Cal opens as seven-point underdogs to San Diego State

Ok then.

NCAA Football: San Diego State at California John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

San Diego State was the Mountain West champion last year and Vegas is giving them the appropriate credit. Despite beating San Diego State decisively 35–7 last season, Cal opens as touchdown underdogs to them on the road in Qualcomm (opening line courtesy of Vegas Insider).

Cal started their season with a solid #drop50 effort in Australia, beating Hawaii 51–31 (the line for that game was around 20.5, making me want to join the Hogwart’s School of Bookmakers). Cal’s offense hasn’t seemed to miss a beat, but their defense is back to its usual shaky self and will be full of question marks all season.

San Diego State started their 2016 campaign off on the right foot, taking care of business against hapless FCS New Hampshire 31–0. The Aztecs are apparently the favorites to recapture the Mountain West and are attracting some latent Group of 5 big bowl buzz.

Cal fans, which side of the line are you leaning towards?
