Cuonzo Martin and the California Golden Bears have a few more holes they’d like to shore up in their recruiting class. One of them is finding a top-notch big man to pair up with transfer Marcus Lee. Could Ira Lee be their man?
Ira Lee keeps on cutting his list on a regular basis. A few months ago he cut his list to a top six, which included Cal. Last month he cut his list by one and put Cal in his top five.
Now it’s a list of three, and it’s a Pac-12 battle: The California Golden Bears, the Oregon Ducks, and the Arizona Wildcats. Lee will visit Cal this weekend (September 23), followed by Oregon (October 7) and then Arizona (October 14).

Oregon: Oct. 7th #GoDucks
Arizona: Oct. 14th ⬇️
Maryland: Oct. 21st
It’s safe to say Lee is the biggest target on the board left for the Bears to try and land. Literally. Lee is considered a top five big in the 2017 class.
Elsewhere, a few updates on a couple of Cal basketball recruiting targets.
- Five star big man Wendell Carter Jr. eliminated Cal, listing a final four of Harvard, Duke, Georgia, and Georgia Tech.
- Another Cal basketball big target—Brandon McCoy—is expected to release his top five in short order.
