Cal currently 3.5 to 4 point underdogs vs. ASU

Pac-12 After Dark ENGAGE.

NCAA Football: Arizona State at California Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

The California Golden Bears will be underdogs for the third week in a row! Cal currently sits as a about a field goal underdog on the road in Tempe against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game is scheduled for another late kickoff (7 PM Pacific, 10 PM Eastern). Sportsbooks have Cal as 3.5 to 4 point underdogs, amounting to what would probably be a pick’em game on a neutral field.

Arizona State has started the season 3-0. They beat up on an FCS squad in week 1 (although it took a half to get going), put up 68 points on Texas Tech (who appear to have a worse defense than either ASU or Cal, which seems mathematically impossible), and then barely survived a UTSA game in the AlamoDome. You can see why the pollsters entertain some healthy skepticism about the Sun Devils at this point in the season, and why they’re still hanging outside of the top 25 behind 1-2 Ole Miss and 1-2 Oklahoma (what is up with that).

But given that neither team is good at defense and both teams are good at offense...just wait for the over to clear. It could be one of the highest in college football history.

Cal fans, your thoughts on this early line?
