Cal football recruiting has been quiet the last few weeks, but it jumped back into gear with a commitment from a Southern cornerback in this class for the California Golden Bears! Meet Tyriq Hardimon of Marietta, Georgia, who picked Cal over West Virginia and Navy!

Hardimon is ranked as a three star prospect (0.8496) in the 247Sports Composite, averaging out to the 79th best cornerback and 79th best prospect in the state of Georgia. Hardimon had offers from many Power 5 programs, including Iowa State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Rutgers, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Here are the highlights from Hardimon.

Hardimon becomes the second pure defensive back to commit in the 2017 recruiting class, joining Je’Quari Godfrey (the Bears have recruited two athletes in Jeremiah Hawkins and Michael Onyemaobi who can play both ways). Cal seems to be looking to prioritize defense for the upcoming class, with five defensive recruits already committed out of the ten Golden Bears pledged in this class.

Welcome to Cal Tyriq! Go Bears!
