Cal football recruiting offers offensive lineman Mike Saffell

Can Cal get their first offensive line commit?

Cal is still looking for its first offensive line commit for the 2017 recruiting class. Could Mike Saffell be the first name to answer the call? Saffell was offered by Cal this week and is looking like a potential verbal. It also sounds like early reports have him very high on the Bears.

Saffell is an Edison center hailing from Huntington Beach. 247Composite ranks him as a three star prospect, a top 10 offensive center and near the top 100 of California recruits. There’s also a clear academic fit—Saffell has attracted interest from Ivy League programs with offers from schools like Columbia and Yale. Let’s take a look at Saffell’s highlights.

The Bears have three seniors on their two-deep this season (including two on the interior) and will be looking to regain class balance by signing up three or four offensive linemen each season.

As mentioned before, Cal also has their eyes on another offensive lineman in Jaxson Kirkland, who has placed the Bears in his top four.

Cal fans, your thoughts on Saffell’s tape?
