Which Calympians might we spot in the closing ceremony tonight?

The Rio 2016 Games is just about over. All the Calympians are done competing but there are still some more medals to be given out.

Day 15 saw Cal adds one to the final medal count as Cal Volleyball great Carli Lloyd won the Bronze with team USA in Women’s Indoor Volleyball. In the night session, Inika McPherson (USA) placed 10th in Women’s High Jump. David Torrence (Peru) placed 16th in the 5000m.

On to the next one #2020

In the closing ceremonies, each country will have just one representative, a flagbearer that enters in single files. The rest of the athletes will all mingle and enter all at once to represent this Olympic games rather than their countries. There will also be the ceremonious handoff to the 2020 Tokyo games.

The plan is to have a couple more Rio 2016 recaps early next week. Expect the final medal counts and breakdowns of how Cal compares to other schools and countries.

For some of the Calympian athletes and those who just missed out on being Calympians, the road to 2020 Tokyo has started already. Best of luck to all the future 2020 Tokyo Calympians and all those who strives to be them.

GO BEARS!
