Now that Swimming is over at Rio 2016, there are significantly fewer active Calympians on a daily basis. Nevertheless, there are still a few strong contenders in team competitions for Golden Bears to pick up additional medals here and there.

All time listed are in PT.

Calympic Medal at Stake

Men’s Golf

Byeong-Hun (Ben) An (South Korea) is right at the peripheral of contention heading into the final round on Sunday.

An finishes at -6, which puts him in a tie for 11. The Gold went to Justin Rose (Great Britain) at -16. Henrik Stenson (Sweden) won Silver with -14. Matt Kucher (USA) took Bronze with -13.

Through 3 rounds, An is at -3 (Tie for 14th), 6 shots out of Bronze and 9 shots out of Gold.

Other Calympians in action:

Carli Lloyd and USA Women’s indoor volleyball vs. China - USA defeated China in 4 sets

USA will play Japan in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night at 6:15 PM

It’s the last group match for the undefeated USA before the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

John Mann and Luca Cupido and USA Men’s water polo defeated Italy 10-7

Unfortunately, Montenegro’s draw with Spain before the USA game allow them to clinch the last berth to the knockout round. Cupido scored a goal against his native country.

USA men’s water polo (1-2) desperately need a win in their final group match to keep the hope of making it to the quarterfinals round alive.
