Cal basketball is in the mix for 5-star point guard Trevon Duval, one of the premier prospects in the nation for the 2017 recruiting class. Duval played high school basketball in Dallas (Tx.) last season and plans to change his school for this season, though he has not made a decision yet.
The competition for Duval is fierce and it is easy to see why when you see where he is ranked with the major recruiting services.
- ESPN: 5-stars, 5th overall, top ranked point guard
- Scout: 5-stars, 4th overall, top ranked point guard
- Rivals: 5-stars, 5th overall
- 247sports: 5-stars, 10th overall, 2nd ranked point guard
Arizona, Cal, Connecticut, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Oklahoma, Oregon, Syracuse, UNLV, UCLA, USC and Villanova are some, but not all of the suitors for Duval. The competition for Duval is crazy good, but the Bears are in decent position right now as Duval plans to visit this summer.
An article from InsideMDSports says Duval plans to visit Oregon, Arizona, UCLA, Kansas and Cal this summer. The article also states Duval is focusing on style of play, coaching and conference as major contributing factors in his eventual commitment.
Duval is 6'3 and 180 lbs. with elite athleticism. If you are a fan of how well a player can finish a drive to the paint then you should definitely check out the first of the two highlight videos I'll post in this article. If crazy athleticism, dunking and dribbling is more of your thing then you should check out the second highlight video. Really, though, you should check out both. Duval appears to be a fantastic prospect.
