Kentucky big man Marcus Lee is expected to make a decision about where he will play college basketball in 2017-18. He has two schools he is expected to choose from in Cal and Washington. He will visit both programs before making his final decision, with his Cal trip starting on Friday. It's his second visit to Cal since deciding to transfer from Kentucky. Are the Bears still the favorite?
California Golden Bears: The hometown program. Lee hails from Deer Valley High in Antioch originally. Cal can sell Lee on the pitch of replacing (or possibly) supplanting.
Washington Huskies: Can't say Lorenzo Romar doesn't know how to recruit. He will clearly sell his ability to produce NBA pros, including two recent ones who will be draft picks very soon.
Cal won't be hurt too badly if they don't get Lee (he would have to sit out 2016-17 regardless). But getting that next big men ready to go would allow the Bears to at least breathe easy that they will survive the losses of Jabari Bird, Ivan Rabb and Sam Singer next season without having to go into full rebuild mode.
