Stanford took an early lead and never looked back in the rubber game of this Big Series. Bears did eventually make things interesting, but still loses by a 6-4 score.
Once again for seemingly an entire month now, the Bears just can't get those key hits. Maybe we are saving those for the postseason (I'm not worried at all about the Bears falling out of being selected for the postseason).
Bears make a trip to Northwestern next weekend (thanks to there been an odd number of baseball team in the Pac). That's definitely a very sweepable series and maybe just what our offense needs to get it going again.

California Golden Bears (25-17, 11-12 in Pac-12) at Stanford Cardinal (22-19, 9-11 in Pac-12)
Where: Sunken Diamond (Stanford, CA)
When: 7 pm PT
TV: Pac-12 Bay Area
Radio: KALX
Probable Starters: RHP Tanner Dodson (2-3, 2.83 ERA) vs. LHP Chris Castellanos (5-2, 3.77 ERA)
Friday result: Cal 4, Stanford 1 (Ryan Mason with the win, Erik Martinez with the save)
Saturday result: Stanford 5, Cal 1 (Tristan Beck with the win for Stanford)
It's the rubber game of this 3 game series between the Golden Bears and their rivals. Including the two non-conference games, the Bears and the Cardinal have each won 2 games. Who will get the bragging right, much needed Pac-12 standing boost, etc. going into the final three weeks of the regular season?
I don't know if Dodson was scratched or merely pushed back. He was listed as the Friday starter in the game note, so maybe the freshman will start tonight's game.
If Castellanos is the starter for Stanford, here is an old video of him from his high school days:
