In his teleconference regarding the commitment and signing of five star athlete Demetris Robertson, Sonny Dykes offered a rather cryptic comment that "we're expecting more good news in the not-so-distant future." What could that mean?
Well, Dykes can't really comment about the 2017 class until next year's National Signing Day, and the 2016 recruiting cycle is pretty much done, so unless Dykes is really into final Under Armour Cal uniform reveals, it might indicate that a graduate transfer might be coming our way.
Could it be Texas Tech quarterback transfer Davis Webb? Cal's quarterback contest is far from over, and Webb could get into the rotation if he got to campus this summer.
Webb and Robertson recently followed each other on Twitter, and Webb's latest Twitter followers include a bunch of Cal football players. Something worth monitoring.
Webb has made a pledge to Colorado, but did take a visit to Berkeley as well as Auburn and no news has been heard since that point. Webb is probably familiar with Cal offensive coordinator Jake Spavital through his former coach Kliff Kingsbury--the two were co-offensive coordinators at Texas A&M before Kingsbury took the Red Raider job.
Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre did issue a public statement that he expects to see Webb in Boulder this summer. However, there was no official confirmation that Webb would be a Buff, just that he expected him to be on campus.
