The UC has delayed, and delayed, and delayed, and delayed all action regarding Cuonzo Martin's contract. Martin still does not have a deal, and the UC has put off moving forward and inking that deal.
The chickens have come home to roost now. Georgia Tech has targeted Cuonzo Martin for their head coaching vacancy with Bryce Drew and Jeff Capel deciding to not take the position. Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle has the story.
The Yellow Jackets have "zeroed in" on Martin and are "very interested" in working out a deal with him, one source with knowledge of the situation said. This comes after multiple reported possibilities for Georgia Tech's opening have been removed from consideration.
Martin is currently under review for his role in managing the firing of a Cal assistant.
Martin is coming off one of the best regular seasons in Golden Bear history, where the Bears finished 18-0 at home and tied for 3rd in the Pac-12. Cal lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Hawaii.
Also of note.
FYI: The same person who handled the search that brought Cuonzo Martin to Cal is now handling Georgia Tech's search. https://t.co/JipS9Er2ON
