Cal basketball assistant Tracy Webster a lead candidate for Milwaukee job

Hey, time for more great Cal hoops news.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Cuonzo Martin might be down all his original assistants he brought from Tennessee come 2016-17. Cal assistant Tracy Webster is getting serious buzz to be the next coach of the Milwaukee Panthers.

At Cal, Webster generally was responsible for coaching the team's guards. He helped develop players like Jordan McRae at Tennessee and Jodie Meeks at Kentucky, and you'd guess has done quite a bit with Jabari Bird and Jordan Mathews this season.

Webster's career started in the state of Wisconsin and did much of his assistant work in the Midwest. He's the all-time leader in assists for the Badgers and started coaching at Division III Wisconsin Parkside.

If Webster were to leave, Martin would be left with only Wyking Jones (who he brought from Louisville) on his current coaching staff. Jon Harris accepted a coaching job at SIU Edwardsville last season and Yann Hufnagel was dismissed earlier this month in a sexual misconduct case.
