Time to wake up and smell the bacon. It's selection Sunday and your Cal bears are anxiously waiting their seeding for March Madness. The Bears solidified their floor as a six seed after defeating Oregon State Thursday night and are looking to move even higher as we wait for the committee to determine their position.
The Bracket Matrix has the Bears as a solid five seed with an average ranking of 4.89. So it feels safe to say Cal will be in that 4 to 6 seed range, with most projections putting them at a 5.
Current teams situated around the 12 seed include Arkansas Little Rock, Northern Iowa, Yale, South Dakota State, and Chattanooga.
Teams in the 4-5 seed range for a potential second round matchup include Indiana, the Kentucky-Texas A&M loser, Purdue, Maryland and Duke.
Joe Lunardi has Cal as a five seed, taking on Northern Iowa in Denver (with the winner taking on the winner of Indiana/Chattanooga).
Jerry Palm has the Bears as a five as well, taking on Yale in Spokane (with the winner battling Maryland or Hawaii).
Join us for selection Sunday when we will find out Cal's seed and the opponent they will take in the first round of the NCAA tournament!
