Victor Viramontes chose the California Golden Bears! The Norco (Ca.) athlete picked Cal as his school of the future and will be signing up with the Bears for next season, and he announced his decision in a cool YouTube video!
Cal beat out programs like Michigan (Viramontes's original commitment), Arizona and Utah to get Victor. Viramontes made Cal his last visit and the pitch was perfect enough that he decided to become a Golden Bear!
Viramontes will be the second quarterback of this recruiting class, joining Max Gilliam. Gilliam is more of your prototypical drop-back quarterback who has all the potential in the world from a passing perspective. Viramontes is an intriguing prospect with a unique skillset. He's very physical for a quarterback and has a solid arm on him.
But the wheels are what's most impressive. Viramontes can take the direct snap and go charging downfield for 20 to 30 yards on a regular basis. If Cal wants a run option quarterback who can take off downfield, Viramontes might be the guy long-term.
Welcome to Cal Victor! Go Bears!
