The California Golden Bears made a push, but A.J. Brown has decided to attend school at Ole Miss. The allure of staying close to home was too much for Cal to overcome, as the Mississippi product opted for a local program.
Cal did their best to pitch Brown, bringing him out to the West Coast with a host of other official visitors. And Brown seemed to enjoy his visit a lot. But it was going to be tough to bring Brown out west with the list of local SEC competitors who were going after him. The Bears gave it a shot, but they should be okay with Brown's friend and fellow Mississippi standout Jordan Duncan.
The good news for Cal is that they still have a ton of wide receiving talent in this class. Duncan leads the way and figures to see the field early. Logan Gamble, Drew Kobayashi, Matt Laris and Jordan Veasy round out the corps for 2016. It's going to be a pretty good class for the Bears on this front, and wide receiver recruiting figures to remain a strength of this class for years to come.
