Cameron Goode signs with Cal, faxes in letter of intent

Goode is currently the only linebacking verbal for the Bears.

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Goode committed to Cal without making an official trip, and after some recruiting pursuit from Nebraska and Vanderbilt, he took his trip to Berkeley a few weeks ago and decided to be a Bear. Goode is currently the only linebacking commit for the Bears in the 2016 recruiting class, but based on his tape, he's going to be a pest for offenses in the years to come.

247Sports composite ranking: Three stars (0.811), 124th outside linebacker, 217th Texas recruit

Via Adam:  Cal gets a fast edge-rusher in Goode, albeit a little bit undersized at 6-3, 190 pounds. Although he might not be able to spell Berkeley correctly at the moment, it is something we can work on. Cal runs a 4-3 defensive scheme, so the Bears are likely to  use Goode's speed (4.56 40 yard dash) in different blitz packages since he probably won't be able to gain enough weight to move to the Defensive end position. Goode is able to use his speed to defend against screen plays very well. There are also multiple plays where he times the snap count perfectly to blow up the play in the backfield.
