Matt Laris of Sammamish (Wa.) Eastside Catholic adds to the plethora of wide receivers Cal has signed for this class, but he is a bit bigger than most of the other receivers in the class at 6'4 and 210 pounds.

According to MaxPreps, Laris caught 67 passes for 1098 yards and 10 touchdowns in 12 games played during his senior season. He had a prolific career at Eastside Catholic as he caught 30 touchdowns in three seasons to go along with 169 catches 2923 receiving yards.

According to our own Trace Travers' scouting report, Laris appears to be a good deep threat already and has the acceleration necessary to turn screen passes into big plays. The knock on Laris is that he needs to develop his route running ability on intermediate routes.

Here is where Laris ranks among the four major recruiting services:

ESPN: 3 stars, 139th ranked wide receiver, 9th ranked player in Washington.

Scout: 3 stars, 118th ranked wide receiver.

Rivals: 3 stars, 8th ranked player in Washington.

247sports: 3 stars, 155th ranked wide receiver, 10th ranked player in Washington.

Laris held offers from Eastern Washington, Montana State and Pennsylvania from the FCS level, and Boise State and Wyoming from the FBS level. Boise State fins a few diamonds in the rough during every recruiting cycle, and the fact that they were in on Laris too makes him seem like he has that sort of potential.

Welcome to Cal, Matt! Go Bears!
