The California Golden Bears don't quite know yet who their 2017 quarterback will be for this class. With Max Gilliam and Victor Viramontes in the fold, the Bears have to feel comfortable about their future at the position and only need to get one guy this time around.
Hey, why not the potential number one quarterback in the class? Texas A&M commit Tate Martell received an offer from one of his favorite people out there, new Cal offensive coordinator Jake Spavital.

The 2017 Las Vegas (Nevada) Bishop Gorman dual threat quarterback is considered the number one prospect at the position. At 5'11 and 205 pounds, Martell committed early to the Aggies. Spavital was the offensive coordinator and was Martell's primary recruiter to the Aggies. Spavital is gone now, and Martell reaffirmed his commitment in December, but Spavital was dismissed in January and became the Cal offensive coordinator a month later. You have to figure this recruitment might not be over yet if Spavital gets a chance to recruit his top target and gets a full year to sell Martell on the allure of Cal.
Here are the highlights.
