Derrick Clark is going to be another in the long list of diamond in the rough running backs the Golden Bears pick up. Clark is here and he'll be competing in spring practice.
Clark is listed as a consensus three-star recruit who is ranked as high as the No. 24 running back nationally according to Rivals, while Scout lists him as the No. 3 running back in California and No. 4 in the West. Rivals has published his 40-yard dash time as 4.46, while Hudl has him at 4.47. 247Sports composite listed the 79th best running back.
You can read Trace's scouting report on Clark's junior tape. Here's a sample: "Clark is a very explosive athlete that can contribute in the return game early. He's got some speed on the outside edge, which can be used in running some outside zone runs in the future. His vision is very well developed for the level that he's at, and he will be another weapon from the RB spot for the Bears."
More from head coach Sonny Dykes:
"We're excited that Derrick will be joining our football program in January," Dykes said. "He is a versatile running back with a skill set that fits nicely into our offense both running the ball and coming out of the backfield as a receiver. He also has tremendous character and an excellent academic background that will serve him well within the culture of our football team and in the classroom."
