Sonny Dykes reportedly leading candidate at Baylor; Mike MacIntyre not interviewing

New news is old news.

Only one significant development from last night’s Pac-12 title game along the Cal coaching front. Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre has taken himself out of the running from the Baylor job. One Colorado associate athletic director was quick to refute the early rumor-mongering, and then MacIntyre himself made it clear he hadn’t talked to anyone and probably has no plans to talk to anyone outside of Colorado.

Interestingly, Cal coach Sonny Dykes has yet to make a public comment on the Baylor rumors, nor will Cal athletic director Mike Williams. The silence is worth noting.

ESPN remains convinced that Dykes is a leading candidate, along with Arkansas State coach Blake Andersen.

They also don’t believe Baylor is a serious contender for P.J. Fleck or any of the top coaches on the market, because, well, Baylor is a bit of a mess.

There aren’t going to be too many hot candidates willing to sign up for a rebuilding job, with Baylor having only a lone recruit currently committed for the 2017 class. It’s going to be a long rebuild in Waco.

Is Dykes the man that Baylor wants, and vice-versa? We can only wait and find out.

What are your thoughts Cal fans?
