In a season rife in disappointments a few rays of sunshine emerged. First it was the commitment of consensus 5-star Demetris Robertson, then it was a graduate transfer of Davis Webb, and the emergence of Chad Hansen.

Now, with all the season in the books there is another ray of light. USA Today named our emerging super-star WR to their Freshman All-American team.

Per CalBears.com , Robertson is the first Cal freshman All-American WR since DeSean Jackson and first All-American since Keenan Allen.

HC Dykes on Robertson:

"Demetris Robertson was certainly one of the nation's best freshmen this season and he has just begun to scratch the surface of his talent," head coach Sonny Dykes said. "He has an incredibly high ceiling and is a dedicated student-athlete who will put in the work to reach his full potential. Demetris has an incredibly bright future."

Furthermore, some stats:

Robertson co-leads all freshmen nationally and paces Pac-12 rookies with his seven touchdown receptions, while he is also the Pac-12 leader and third among rookies nationally in receiving yards (767) and receiving yards per game (63.9). He is also second in the conference and sixth nationally among freshmen in receptions (50) while his five receptions of 50 or more yards rank tied for fifth among all players in the country.

May this be the first of many of his mentions for national accolades.

Also maybe we can jump start the #HansenForHeisman2017 campaign next year.
