Cal in the mix for USC quarterback transfer Max Browne

Could the Bears go for another grad transfer?

NCAA Football: Alabama vs Southern California Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Three Pac-12 programs have popped up as potential transfer destinations for USC quarterback Max Browne, one of them including the California Golden Bears. Cal, Colorado and Washington State have all popped up as potential possibilities, according to Lars Hanson of Rivals. Browne lost his starting job to Sam Darnold earlier this season, and has sought his release to be a graduate transfer in his final year of eligibility.

Let’s take a look at the situations at the three programs.

Cal: Davis Webb will be gone next season, leaving the Bears with a prolonged battle between Max Gilliam, Chase Forrest, Ross Bowers and Vic Viramontes. That’s a lot of young players to pick from! Could Cal consider another graduate transfer for the second year in a row? Browne was a five star quarterback coming out of college. The talent is still there.

Colorado: Sefo Liufau will graduate, meaning the Buffs are likely to turn to Steven Montez. Would Colorado consider calling on a more experienced face?

Washington State: It will probably depend on whether Luke Falk decides to turn pro early.

Cal fans, your thoughts on Browne?
