Cal has landed a great quarterback for the future in high school junior dual-threat signal caller Adrian Martinez, who becomes Cal’s first commit of the 2018 class. Martinez visited Cal for the Big Game, liked what he saw, and the Clovis West prospect made his verbal this morning.

The Fresno quarterback is a three-star (0.8745) commit according to 247Composite. Martinez is ranked as the 15th best dual-threat quarterback in this class and 42nd best prospect from California. Martinez enjoyed early offers from Colorado, Washington State, Oregon State, Missouri, Miami, Utah and Vanderbilt as well as from Cal.

Here are his highlights.

Martinez figures to join a crowded depth chart in 2018, with Chase Garbers committed this season and Vic Viramontes and Max Gilliam redshirting this year. Cal will have a host of young quarterbacks they could potentially choose from in two seasons to keep the offense moving in the right direction.

Welcome to Cal Adrian! Go Bears!
