Cal power forward Ivan Rabb was bestowed with another incredible preseason award. Already making the top 20 list for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award, Rabb was named a preseason All-American as one of the top five college basketball players in the nation coming into the 2016-17 season.
Rabb joins Grayson Allen of Duke, Josh Hart of Villanova, Dillon Brooks of Oregon and Monte Morris of Iowa State on the All-America team. Rabb received 57 votes, trailing only Allen with 61 votes. Rabb is the third underclassmen to make the AP preseason team the last three years, joining Jahlil Okafor and Ben Simmons.
Rabb is the second Cal Bear to win preseason All-America honors, joining Jason Kidd from 1993-1994. Rabb was second-team All Pac-12 and was first team Pac-12 all freshman. Rabb has some of the best odds to win the National Player of the Year, trailing only Allen and Markelle Fultz.
Congrats Ivan! Go Bears!
