Cal basketball enters the top 25 in the AP Poll

Go Bears!

NCAA Basketball: UCLA at California Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight year, the California Golden Bears are a top 25 team.

How long can they stay there?

Cal has risen up to 25th in the Associated Press poll in one week, and hovers on the edge in the Coaches Poll at 28th. Cal is the fourth Pac-12 team in the AP top 25 poll, with the Bears trailing Oregon (4th), Arizona (10th) and UCLA (16th).

Cal was on the border of the top 25 the last two years. Cal spent the first few weeks of last season ranked before dropping out after getting swept by San Diego State and Richmond in the Vegas Invitational. Cal would end last year’s regular season ranked before dropping out after the NCAA Tournament.

Cal will also face a big test next week from a top 30 squad, with San Diego State ranked 29th in the AP Poll and 31st in the Coaches Poll.
