Cal has their first offensive line recruit of the 2017 class! Meet Mike Saffell, Edison center from Huntington Beach. Saffell was named the Sunset League Offensive Lineman of the Year and was one of the top ten high school offensive lineman in the Southland by the Los Angeles Times.

A three-star propsect in the 247Composite, Saffell holds offers from Colorado State and Ivy League programs like Yale and Columbia, and is currently ranked as the 9th best center in this class and the 110th best California recruit. Saffell might be listed as the center but has the pedigree to play anywhere.
Saffell is one of the top centers out West but can play anywhere in the interior, strong, physical kid, a technician and very tough

Let’s take a look at his Hudl mid-season highlights from his senior campaign.
With Cal’s offensive line almost entirely composed of upperclassmen, it’s imperative that the Golden Bears continue to build their two-deep up and get the best available offensive lineman in this class.
Welcome to Cal Michael! Go Bears!
