Taariq Johnson & Jeremiah Hawkins: WR & ATH, Buena Park Coyotes (Buena Park, CA)

The Coyotes beat Fullerton 21-7 to improve to 6-1 this season. Hawkins returned from injury to tally 15 yards on four touches while Johnson caught five passes for 123 yards and one touchdown.

Chase Garbers: QB, Corona del Mar Sea Kings (Newport Beach, CA)

Corona del Mar molly-whopped Beckman 55-17 to improve to 6-1 this season and Garbers led the way. The Cal-bound quarterback completed 13 of 19 passes for 240 yards to go along with six touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed four times for 26 yards.

The Orange County Register touched on Garbers’ career game in this story.

Chase Garbers would probably like to face Beckman a few more times before his high school career concludes at Corona del Mar.

Garbers, a Cal-bound senior quarterback, matched his career high with six touchdown passes for the second consecutive season against the Patriots, leading the Sea Kings to a 55-17 victory Thursday night at Tustin High.

Garbers threw all of six of his touchdowns in the first half before sitting out all but the first series of the second half. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 240 yards, and was also intercepted for the first time this season.

Garbers’ highlight video includes a couple of impressive plays. The first is a really good shovel pass down the field on a play where Garbers scrambles out of the pocket. The next is a couple of plays away from the end of the video where Garbers’ receiver runs a slant and go which gets a tiny bit of separation from the cornerback. Garbers throws a dime over the shoulder of the receiver next to the sideline for the touchdown. If he can consistently make that throw then he has a chance to be very successful at the next level.

Michael Onyemaobi: ATH, Chaparral Pumas (Temecula, CA)

The Chaparral Pumas are having a rough season. This past week they lost to Murrieta Valley 42-0 to fall to 1-6. This is their fifth consecutive loss.

Gabe Cherry: DE, Centennial Golden Hawks (Bakersfield, CA)

Centennial ost a heart-breaker to Garces Memorial 39-31 in double overtime to fall to 2-5.

Je’Quari Godfrey: CB, Bishop O’Dowd Dragons (Oakland, CA)

Godfrey and the Dragons beat Castro Valley 45-0 to improve to 6-1 and notch their third consecutive victory. Godfrey notched a 73-yard touchdown reception in this contest.

Biaggio Ali-Walsh: RB, Bishop Gorman Gaels (Las Vegas, NV)

Bishop Gorman yawned through another matchup with a local team as they beat Clark 58-0 to improve to 8-0. Ali-Walsh rushed just five times for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

Tyriq Hardimon: DB, Lassiter Trojans (Marietta, GA)

Hardimon and the Trojans slipped to their second straight defeat 34-23 to Woodstock to fall to 5-2.

Marquese Taylor: ATH, Lovejoy Wildcats (Lovejoy, GA)

Lovejoy’s three-game winning streak came to an end as they lost 29-26 to Tucker to fall to 4-4. Taylor caught four passes for 161 yards and three touchdowns.

Jordan Genmark-Heath: ATH, Cathedral Catholic Dons (San Diego, CA)

Cathedral Catholic beat Mira Mesa 45-6 to improve to 7-0 and Genmark-Heath was all over the stat sheet. He rushed one time for two yards, notched two tackles and added an interception.

Michael Saffell: OL, Edison Chargers (Huntington Beach, CA)

Saffell and the Chargers beat Los Alamitos 17-9 to improve to 6-1 for their second consecutive victory.

Alex Funches & Da’Quan Patton: DE & LB, Trinity Valley C.C. (Athens, TX)

The Cardinals returned from their bye week to beat Tyler Junior College 65-41 and the two Cal-bound defenders had great games. Patton contributed 10 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 2.5 tackles for a loss, one interception, and one pass breakup. Funches notched five tackles, one sack and three pass breakups.
