Cal looked to experiment with its line-up early in the game but with 8 assists from Sam Singer in just the FIRST HALF of the game, the offense was balanced, more unpredictable and more energetic. The first play from tip-off led to a Singer steal that resulted in a huge open court dunk by Jaylen Brown. Ivan Rabb was the biggest individual threat in the first half with 12 points on 6-8 shooting with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Bears maintained their lead throughout the second half but the Sun Devils made it a game at the 2:15 mark by tying the game up at 65. Ivan and Jaylen both made a free throw to put the Bears up 2, and 2 great defensive stops followed by a Jaylen Brown transition lay-up put the Bears up 4 with 42.1 seconds left. The last minute of play felt like an eternity but it ended where it started, in the hands of Starting Point Guard Sam Singer.
