Cal football recruiting target three-star CB Terrell Burgess to decide Jan. 29th

Dykes could potentially add yet ANOTHER cornerback to a class which already contains five defensive backs after the commitment of Nygel Edmonds.

Three-star cornerback Terrell Burgess is set to decide on January 29th, and will likely choose between Cal, Arizona, and Utah.

Arizona is the current favorite, with Utah not far behind. Cal probably has some room to make up if they want to land Burgess, but they are definitely in the running. With the amount of departures this season, Dykes does have lots of room in this recruiting class, but it seems that Cal is set at the cornerback position. That being said, it can't hurt to have more bodies, and Burgess could contribute to the team in a number of ways, especially in the return game, where he and Melquise Stovall could form a dynamic special teams duo.

While Burgess doesn't have elite size or speed (6 feet, 4.6 40-yard dash), he does possess a good mixture of both, in addition to versatility on both sides of the ball. Whether it be taking snaps out of the wildcat, lining up as a wide receiver, delivering big hits, or locking down receivers, Burgess can do a little bit of anything, which must be exciting to coaches, especially Dykes, who has not been afraid to move guys around.

Dykes has a very solid class in the works, and Burgess would easily bolster the depth at cornerback and heighten the prospects of having a solid return game in the future.
