The California Golden Bears currently have only one linebacker commit in this class, which is a bit concerning. This is coming off a 2015 recruiting class that had ZERO linebacker commits. Even though Cal runs mostly nickel and dime formations, one linebacker in two years is pretty rough.
And Cal still has to hold onto the one commit they have! Cal linebacker commit Cameron Goode has taken two recent visits to two Power 5 schools; one in December to Nebraska, and one this weekend to Vanderbilt. Nebraska also made an in-home visit recently, so this recruitment battle is far from over.

Goode is still slated to make his final visit to Berkeley the weekend of January 29th, so Cal will get the final shot to convince Goode to sign on the dotted line come National Signing Day.
The Bears do not want to lose Goode. His hard hitting ability is definitely needed to get the Cal linebacker going.
Given the attrition at the position (Jalen Jefferson and Nathan Broussard graduating, Michael Barton transferring), Cal is going to be running real short on linebackers in a hurry. You can already guess 2017 recruiting will be heavily focused on landing a strong group of men to man the middle of the Cal defense.
