Whoa!

The 2016 college football offseason might have gotten off to a roaring start for the California Golden Bears with an early recruiting prize. Barring a bizarro Twitter hack, Cal might have just flipped Stanford commit and four-star cornerback Nygel Edmonds from their rivals on the Farm.

The Southern defensive back has been firm to Stanford for nearly all of 2015, and reportedly had been admitted to the program a few weeks back. But he doesn't look like a Stanford commit anymore.

Take a look at Edmonds's Twitter account and be absolutely confused.

Now, let's be on our guard. There is no official announcement anywhere.  Edmonds made his Stanford commitment back in April. But early indications from 'sources' are very promising.

Also,

Edmonds received a Cal offer a year and a half ago, and the offers have been pouring in from all corners. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, plus most of the SEC too has come calling for Edmonds. He also has the Ivy Leagues like Harvard and Princeton giving him a look.

Here are the rankings.

  • Rivals: Four stars (5.8), 193rd in Rivals 250, 12th best cornerback, 3rd best prospect in Tennessee
  • ESPN: Four stars (80), 27th best cornerback, 8th best prospect in Tennessee
  • 247Sports: Three stars (87), 37th best cornerback, 9th best prospect in Tennessee
  • Scout: Three stars, 55th best cornerback

Here is his tape from his junior season. Some senior tape is available on Hudl.
