The Bears have scheduled to host the Saint Mary's Gaels on Dec 12 at 12:30PM, and will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
About the Gaels match up Coach Cuonzo Martin said, "We are looking forward to playing Saint Mary's this season. This should be a great game. Our two Bay Area schools have a strong basketball tradition. We have not played one another in more than a decade, and I know our fans will be excited about the match up."
Coach is right about that. Cal has not played the Gaels since they lost 61-52 on November 12, 2004. All-time Cal leads this series by a landslide of 61-16. Although they have not made the tourney since 2013, they've consistently played in the postseason whether that be the tourney or NIT since 2008.
This will definitely be a fun match up with Saint Mary's track record of recent NBA stars that include Patty Mills of the San Antonio Spurs, and Matthew Dellevedova of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Randy Bennett has done a great job of recruiting overseas and particularly Australia. This year's roster consists of 6 Australians, but are in full rebuild mode. They have lost their Top 3 scorers and Top 3 rebounders from last season. It'll be interesting to see how both teams match up this year with pretty drastic personnel changes whether that be additions or subtractions.
Here is another look at our entire schedule. What do you guys think? Is it a challenging schedule?
